| This is our first garden in as long as I can remember. Our tomato vines are lush an filling with tomatoes. All are green yet though. I am picking 4 to 7 cucumbers every day for several days with the vines full of blossoms. Tonight I noticed a little cantalope beginning to form. On the other hand, my beans are sparse producers and the potato plants are anemic. It will have to do for this year. We call this my learning curve year. | | |
| I feel a little guilty when I complain about the thunderstorms and rain. All I have to worry about is a garden too wet to weed and interrupted sleep. As I drive to work, I see fields of golden wheat waiting to be harvested. It's just to wet to get in the fields. I hear of wet basements :( and children who want to go outside and play. On a brighter note, the rain has made my Clematis vines very happy. The blooms are as wide as my hands and a deep purple in color.
The small buds produced amazingly large flowers. I have been amazed by the way they wind themselves around the trellis and other parts of the vine to add support and strength. When I examine the vine, I marvel again at God's awesome and amazing creation. As I think about the process of life sprouting forth from seeds, it again draws me back to our Heavenly Father's great love and watchful care over each of us. How can I worry! Our sovereign Lord is in control! :)

I love peony bushes! I am so thrilled to have one in our new yard. We have enjoyed watching it seemingly get taller every day and erupt into bloom. I counted 30 blossoms tonight, undeterred by the heavy rains we have had the last three nights. Accompanying the thunder and lightning we had 1 1/2 inches, then 0.8 inch, then 1 inch on successive nights. My vegetable garden needs weeding, but it is too wet to walk in.
